Katherine C. Aquino, Ph.D., is the Executive Director for Research Training and Development in the School of Graduate Studies at Rutgers University. She previously served as an Associate Professor in the Department of Administrative and Instructional Leadership and as Associate Dean for Innovation and Partnerships for the School of Education at St. John’s University. Katherine received a B.S. in Psychology, M.A. in School Psychology, and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership, Management, and Policy. Katherine also has an advanced certificate in Instructional Design and Delivery.
Katherine’s research focuses on disability and accessibility within the organizational environment. Katherine is dedicated to investigating the complexity of disability in the postsecondary setting. Her work has been published in the Journal of Diversity in Higher Education, Journal of College Student Development, and the Journal of Postsecondary Education and Disability, among others. Alongside her colleague, Dr. Adam R. Lalor, she is currently working on the book The New Accessibility in Higher Education: Disrupting the System for an Inclusive Future (to be published with Oxford University Press in August 2025).
Katherine has significant experience in program development and review, accreditation, and assessment initiatives, and works with organizations to ensure data integrity, compliance, and program effectiveness. Katherine regularly consults on topics around accessibility and program review.
